Updates from Ms. Brown's Beach

Amazing Scholars at Work
On February 25, 2017 2 teams from Mesa Grande competed in the Hesperia Unified School District's 2017 iExpo. Team Future and Team Faze each had 4 team members at the competition, 3 of those students are from Ms. Brown's Beach. Mrs. Anderson was team manager for Team Future and Ms. Brown was team manager for Team Faze.
Both teams participated in the In It Together Engineering Challenge. Each team had to build two towers using only balsa wood and gorilla glue. The structures did not break after applying all the weight in the room. Mr. Kirk even sat on top of the weights to see if the structures would break, but they did not.
In the Instant Challenge, both teams had to build bridges across cups using only straws, strings, paper clip, one piece of tape and one pair of scissors. The students used their engineering knowledge to build many bridges across the cups. Both teams did well in this challenge.
At the end of the day, it came down to Team Faze and Team Bolt (from another school). The teams had tied and now had to build a tower out of shoes to break the tie. Team Faze built an awesome show tower with time to spare.
Team Faze won first place and the trophy is now proudly displayed in the office!!!
